Private client Nikki and Mike Dibley approached me to design their three bedroom Span apartment having seen my own Span house on-line. The apartment was completely renovated, but we carefully retained many of the original features such as the single reeded glass doors, door handles, light switches and sockets.
The original style of woodblock and chequered vinyl flooring was reinstated and joinery throughout was designed specifically in keeping with the original Span design. The kitchen design in particular was modelled on the original, including a solid teak worktop, but updated with new integrated appliances. The original fireplace was also reinstated and a new tiled surround and hearth was installed to the original design.
The apartment has been featured in Grand Designs Magazine as an 'Historic Gem', and also appeared in the South East London Journal and the on-line journal of Modernist estate agents The Modern House.
