John Richmond

We worked closely with leading English fashion designer John Richmond on the design of two stores in Neal Street, Covent Garden. The first, Boutique Destroy, focused on his casual, jean label in contrast to the second which housed the more expensive couture range.

Boutique Destroy was the London 'flagship' for John Richmond's youth-focused fashion labels, Destroy and Denim. As such it aimed for a mood that was unapologetically brash. Inside, the emphasis was on synthetic materials, leatherette, plastic, velvet and vinyl and loud colours, especially purple, that predominate in Richmond's clothes. To achieve an atmosphere described by John as 'industrial chic' we juxtaposed this kitsch palette with contrasting materials such as sand-blasted brick, polished stainless steel, burnished aluminium and raw steel.
